Today I want to share with you about the end times. When we think of the end times, we rightly think of the return of Jesus Christ. Some miss that in the end, there are also—deep within the pages of the Bible—two times when God the Father also joins Jesus and comes to the Earth.
The First Coming: After the Tribulation
The first is after the tribulation. When Jesus returns to defeat the Antichrist, God the Father, known as the Ancient of Days in the book of Daniel, joins Jesus and the
heavenly host, as well as the saints, in defeating the Antichrist.
"I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom."— Daniel 7:21–22
God the Father will come to help Jesus defeat the Antichrist kingdom. He will then give over the kingdom to the Son.
"I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed."— Daniel 7:13–14
This great moment is confirmed by the prophet Zechariah, who declares that the Lord comes with all His saints:
"…and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee."— Zechariah 14:5
The Father’s Second Coming: At the End of the Millennium
There will then be a 1,000-year reign of Christ, known as the Millennium. During this time, the Father will be back in Heaven. The second coming of God the Father will be at the end of the Millennium, when Satan is thrown into the lake of fire. God shall then return to the Earth with the New Jerusalem, to dwell among men forever, just as it was back in the Garden of Eden.
"And there came unto me one of the seven angels... saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God."— Revelation 21:9–10
"And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life...And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there... for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever."— Revelation 22:1–5
In a time when so many are consumed with careers, comfort, and personal happiness, it's easy to lose sight of what really matters. But Scripture reminds us that we’re part of something far greater—a cosmic battle between light and darkness. The Triune God is not distant; He is actively working, even in the end times, to defeat evil and restore His Kingdom. And the most amazing part? We, the people of God, aren’t just spectators—we’re participants in His plan. So let us not be distracted by the worries of this life, but stay alert, knowing we are part of a much greater story.
